Bhubaneswar is the first city in India to vaccinate its entire population against the COVID-19 virus.

Bhubaneswar has set a new record by becoming the first city in the world to achieve 100% COVID-19 vaccination, according to Anshuman Rath, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Zonal Deputy Commissioner of the South-East, Bhubaneswar.

The BMC has a record of around nine lakh people in the city who are over the age of 18. There are approximately 31 thousand healthcare workers, including 33 thousand front-line workers. The age group of 18 to 44 years comprises 5 lakh 17 thousand people. Over the age of 45, there are 3 lakh 25 thousand people.

Rath went on to say, “We have already vaccinated 18 lakh 16 thousand people in the city, according to the report. Only a few people were unable to take the first dos due to a variety of factors. There is a migrant population in Bhubaneswar who is getting their first Covaxin jab while working in their office.”

Rath stated, “When it comes to the vaccination of pregnant women,” “At vaccination clinics, pregnant women receive their first dose. BMC operates 55 vaccination centres throughout Bhubaneswar, including 30 primary health and community centres, 15 mobilised centres, and more than ten drive-in vaccination centres. I thank the people of Bhubaneswar for assisting BMC in meeting the Covid-19 vaccination target. The BMC handled all of the micro-planning, and as a result, Bhubaneswar has become the first city to achieve 100% Covid-19 vaccination coverage.”
